How To Find Low Cost Health Insurance In Pa.

Posted on: 1 Comment

Low cost health insurance in Pa. may be inexpensive, but the quality of coverage in many of the plans is excellent. Whether we are considering Highmark, Keystone, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare or a host of other options, each company offers specific low cost plans that will be easy on your budget. Pahealthinsurancecoverage.com is the recognized website for finding affordable health insurance at the lowest allowable rate. We realize it’s important to lower the cost of your health care. But we also feel it is equally important to use top-rated companies that pay claims in a timely manner. For that reason, we never use any unacceptable companies.

We help individuals, families, the self-employed and the uninsured find low cost health insurance at an extremely affordable rate. The prices you view at Pahealthinsurancecoverage.com are always updated to reflect the lowest offered rates and there are never any fees or charges for our service. Pa health care rates have increased the last 10 years, but there are still many plans that will fit within your financial situation. National health care reform has begun and we feel it is important to ensure you are taking advantage of any change that could possibly reduce what you pay for your benefits.

Many of the plans include comprehensive benefits such as office visits, prescriptions, preventive coverages and urgent-care copays. Typically, these low cost pans will also offer standard major medical benefits such as coverages for inpatient and outpatient hospital expenses, X-ray and lab fees, radiation and chemotherapy, and surgeon, assistant surgeon and facility fees. Many of the plans will also include coverages found in more expensive plans such as preventive benefits, office visit copays, prescription benefits and unlimited lifetime maximum benefits.

Some of the most popular low cost health insurance plans in Pennsylvania are:

Aetna Preventive & Hospital Care 3000

Aetna PPO 5000

Aetna PPO Value 2500

HealthAmerica QHDHP

HealthAmerica Rewards

Highmark PPOBlue

UnitedHealthCare Saver 80

UnitedHealthCare Copay Select Value

Yes…that is a big list of plans. It is intended to be a guide as opposed to a “one shoe fits all”  type of solution to every customer’s needs. But most of these options will be very cost-effective for most consumers. And qualified preventive expenses are covered at 100% on ALL of these plans. Pennsylvania Health Insurance Reform

Posted on: 1 Comment

Pennsylvania health insurance reform is coming. But if House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has her way, you can expect to see your Pennsylvania individual and family health insurance rates rise faster than you ever imagined. However, there are some alternative solutions that will cost less, expand coverage and improve health care quality.

Five health care reform ideas that should be implemented (courtesy of Douglas Holtz-Eakin and Paul Howard) are:

1.     Eliminate the tax exclusion for health care and replace it with a tax deduction or tax credit. Typical savings could be used to reduce the cost of individual and family health insurance policies.

2.     Increase and expand funding to high-risk plans so that major pre-existing conditions would be better covered.

3.     Let health insurance companies sell insurance across state lines. If Pennsylvania consumers do not want or need expensive “Cadillac” health plans with features they will never use, why force them to buy these plans? Maybe they could get cheaper plans elsewhere.

4.     Eliminate waste, abuse and fraud in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Fraudulent activities cheat taxpayers out of billions of dollars each and every year, including many in Pennsylvania. Let’s take on this problem  before revamping the entire health care system.

5.     Enact tort reform that will end lawsuit abuse. This change would reduce the federal budget deficits by approximately $54 billion over the next 10 years. And that’s better than the ideas we have been hearing from Washington DC.

As the owner and founder of Pahealthinsurancecoverage.com, Pennsylvania’s leading resource for affordable health care, I sincerely support health care reform. But let’s do it the right way. Let’s not offer free insurance to a few and charge everyone else a fortune. Let’s also not bankrupt America in the process of enacting this law.

Pennsylvania Cinergy Health Insurance… Is It Worth Buying?

Cinergy Health likes to advertise their health plans. They may not be on television as much as the ShamWow or OxiClean products, but Cinergy does heavily promote their medical plans in Pennsylvania.

So…Is  Cinergy Health insurance worth considering. Probably not…unless you’re uninsurable with major health problems. And be prepared for some surprises when you read the fine print of the policy.

The Cinergy Health “Preferred” plans are NOT major medical insurance and are not intended to replace catastrophic health insurance or major medical insurance. The dental and prescription coverages do NOT make payments directly to you. They are “discount” plans that may reduce your out-of-pocket costs with certain providers.

The Coverage

For example…the Cinergy Health “Preferred 1000”plan pays only $100 per year (per person) of emergency room (ER) charges. Two ER visits could easily leave you with a bill of more than $2,000. Daily hospital confinement benefits are also limited to only $1,000 per day (up to 30 days per year). Hospital intensive care coverage is even less…just $1,000 per day (up to 15 days per year).

Pennsylvania Cinergy Health Plans offer far less coverage than most typical major medical plans offered by large insurers such as Blue Cross, United HealthCare, Aetna and HealthAmerica. The difference becomes quite noticeable with lengthy hospital stays, expensive prescriptions or constant visits to a specialist. A major medical claim could potentially expose hundreds of thousands of dollars of expenses that are not covered or are only partially covered.

The Cost

The Pennsylvania Cinergy Health “Preferred 1000” plan costs almost $6,000 for family coverage and about $3,700 for an individual. Add a $50 registration fee and it is quite apparent that unless you’re uninsurable, this plan may not be your best option. In fairness, this article originally was published in 2009 so it’s possible that their rates and plan options may have changed.

But If you can qualify for health insurance from one of the major health carriers, that’s probably your best option. We feel that Aetna, UnitedHealthCare, HealthAmerica, Highmark, Keystone or any of the Blue Cross plans are better and more affordable Pennsylvania health insurance options.
